Swing Bed Program

The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Swing Bed Program is a hospital based skilled nursing and rehabilitation program for individuals who no longer need acute care in a hospital, yet continue to need special care or rehabilitative therapy before they return home. Our commitment is to bridge the gap between illness and independence.

  • Multi-disciplinary collaboration for care and treatment of patients.
  • Wound care which requires daily assessment, management and treatment by skilled personnel.
  • Physical therapy treats patients with post surgical needs, stroke, functional decline, muscle weakness and orthopedic joint replacements.
  • Treatments include gait, transfer and balance training, as well as, pain management modalities.
  • Occupational therapy provides training in areas of self-care, adaptive
    equipment and rehabilitation for upper extremity dysfunctions.
  • Speech therapy specializing in evaluation and treatment of communication disorders and swallowing disorders.
  • Respiratory therapy is available to monitor and provide oxygen needs, nebulizer and chest therapy.
  • Medical management including extended IV therapy.

Your recovery will be assisted by a full team that creates a personalized recovery program for you. We provide the most advanced care available to our patients. Our Swing Bed Program features completely private and spacious rooms, 24 hour services by our ACLS Certified Registered Nurses and cardiopulmonary staff, telemetry services and pastoral care.

Arranging for a swing bed stay is easy and anyone can contact us regarding our program. We have case managers ready to assist with any needs you may have. To quality for a swing bed, most insurances require a three day inpatient qualifying hospital stay.
